We plan to wrap our hand crafted apple stamped apron, apple dish cloth and tawashi scrubs up in them for teacher appreciation.
All this basket needs now is a little cellophane gift wrapping.
Ohh, granny apples!

Free Basket Pattern:
Crochet with two strands of cream cotton worsted weight yarn and a size 7.0 hook to make the basket similar to mine. I have used a 5.0 and 6.5 hook and one strand of yarn for small and medium sized spa baskets.
(Note: Ch 3 at beg of row counts as dc.)
ch 4. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3. 11 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 12 dc.
2nd rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. 2 dc in each dc around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 24 dc.
3rd rnd: Ch 3. 2 dc in next dc. *1 dc in next dc. 2 dc in next dc.
Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 36 dc.
Skip rnd 4, 5 and 6 for a small sized basket and go directly to rnd 7.
4th rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in next dc. 2 dc in next dc. *1 dc in each of next
2 dc. 2 dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 48 dc.
Skip rnd 5 and 6 for a medium sized basket and go directly to rnd 7.
5th rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. 1 dc in each of next 3 dc.
*2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 60 dc.
Skip rnd 6 for a large sized basket and go directly to rnd 7.
6th rnd: Ch 3. 1 dc in same sp as last sl st. 1 dc in each of next 4 dc.
*2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 4 dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. XL Large size basket.
7th rnd: Ch 1. sc into the back loop of the next stitch and all the way around. Then sl st to the beginning ch. Ch 1.
8th rnd: sc in each st around until the basket reaches the height you desire. Join with a sl st. Finish off and weave in the ends.
Ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
sc = single crochet
rnd = round
Try turning down the edges for a different look. I'm thinking a glass plate and apple pie!
