Coffee, Tea or me?

 

 

I've seen this sharpie moustache cup all over Pinterest and wanted to give it a try.  After the drawing was finished I baked the cup and saucer at 420 degrees in the oven for 30 minutes. No preheat and I let them completely cool down inside the oven.

...ooh, aah they turned out so good I had to try the wine glasses as well.

My mind is just spinning with inspirational quotes and the colour possibilities!

The Secret Garden Book & a Craft

This week's Literature based craft was inspired by reading "The Secret Garden" classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

We call it 3D art but we have also heard it called faux stained glass.  You get this effect with hot glue, tin foil and sharpies!

 

Start by letting the glue gun heat up while drawing your picture.  (I used freezer paper to trace part of a pattern off a tee and then doodled in details). Next, outline your design lines with thick hot glue and after it dries for 5 minutes or so place tin foil over the picture. 

 

With a black Sharpie trace over the glue bumps. Now fill in the spaces with colour.

 

 

 Sit back and enjoy your masterpiece!

Silly String Art to Paintball

 

 

Woke up this morning to what looked like a big silly string mess on my backyard fence.  At second glance my heartstrings were tugged in every direction.  

Our fence is a canvas for chalk, glow-in-the=dark paint, and even sidewalk paint but never silly string.  The kids cleaned it up relatively easy without a fuss and asked if they could do it again.  My answer was yes, I suppose so!

Here is some neat information on Silly String which led me to think about using the stuff much like paint ball for an obstacle course game ( if you are silly stringed, you are out):

Silly String products have long been used by American and British forces to detect tripwires for explosive booby traps. To use it in this manner, the soldier stands in the doorway and sprays the material over the suspect area. If the string falls to the ground there are no tripwires. However, if there is a tripwire, the string will be suspended in the air without pulling the wire. As of 2006 it is being used by U.S. troops in Iraq for this purpose.
