Today was a rainy first day back to school for the kids here on the West Coast. I set about making the house warm for their return with a pot of chilli, homemade cookies and while the oven was still hot...rocks!
Rocks heating at 200 degrees for 15 minutes.
Yummy pot of chilli con carne!
This activity was a huge hit! My kids and their friends were asking for more rocks faster then I could get them cleaned and baked.
Try soaking the crayons in water and the paper wrapping will instantly fall off making it easier to colour the rocks while they are hot. The rocks do get very hot. Young children will require supervision for this activity.
Update: my kids just came running into the house all excited after discovering they could draw pictures on paper with their now dry "rock crayons".
We found this fun activity over at Wise Craft and thought her kids had painted them. I love any activity that will use up our endless bucket of crayons, love of rocks and creativity!
Feel free to share your project photo's on our Facebook Page. We would love to see them!
