Nature Craft Creek Clay

Our favorite summer activity is finding clay. The best place we have found clay is near a creek.   Keep your eyes on the lookout near the banks and you will see the colour of the dirt changing.

After you find it simply fill a bucket with 3/4 clay to 1/4 water.  This is called your "slip".  Now start straining with a sieve.  You can run your slip through an old tee to get the finer rocks out.

Our creek has a swimming hole complete with a rope swing to wash off afterwards.

Place your clay on some wood to let some of the water evaporate and let it dry in the sun.

Now the clay is ready for some fun!

Enjoy your nature walks!

Feel free to share your projects and photo's on our Facebook Page.  We would sure love to see them!
