3 Tips for Melting Pony Beads

Mountain Sunset
Hi there! My kids and I are learning a lot as we have fun melting pony beads. Today we gained three new insights that we think would be helpful if you're just starting out.

1. By adding a key chain, washer or small loop to your design before baking it stringing will be easier and you can avoid charging up the drill.

2. Consider purchasing a non-stick clean pan to be used only for melting plastic. We lined the bottom of an old pan with freezer paper and it stuck to our design.  If you don't mind soaking and scratching the paper off then this method might work for you.  Last week, we used an old pan with no lining and the imperfections of the pan baked right on to our pony beads.

3. We ran out of pony beads and mixed a variety of (what we thought were plastic) beads in our design and they didn't melt at the same rate.

We hope these tips will save you some time setting up.

Feel free to share your project photo's on our Facebook Page.  We would sure love to see them!
