Kids D.I.Y. Flower Press

Hello, we have projects drying all over the house at very slow rates, especially our piƱata, and the kids were looking for something to do today...

We excitedly remembered the pansies we pressed in an old telephone book a couple of weeks ago to decorate our handmade pantry soap.  They happily settled on making a D.I.Y. Flower Press.

Supplies

  • 12 precut pieces of cardboard (we cut up a box)
  • rubber bands and/or ribbon and velcro
  • wax paper or coffee filters
  • paper or a cover off a book

Step 1 Decorate a piece of paper (cut to the same size as the precut cardboard ) or use a cover off a book and glue to one of the cardboard pieces. This is the top of the press.

Step 2 Cut 22 pieces of wax paper to the size of your cardboard and sandwich them between the 12 pieces of cardboard.

Step 3 Glue Velcro to the end of a ribbon to make a strap to keep the press tight.  Vertical and horizontal elastic bands wrapped around it works too.

Place your flowers in the press and wait two weeks.

Have fun opening your Flower Press to find beautiful dried treasure!

Feel free to share your project photo's on our Facebook Page.  We would sure love to see them!
