Star Gazing and a Craft

We had some fun the other night star gazing at our local dark-sky observation site and even saw what resembled a lightening bug!  My parents used to call them firefly's when they were growing up.  Before heading out we checked off our "How to Star Gaze Comfortably" list from wikiHow:

• Good weather, clear sky, a moon
• Dark sky location
• Safety flashlights
• Warm jackets
• Comfortable chairs, drinks and snacks
• Equipment - Telescope 

We cut the night short because we were getting eaten alive by mosquito's. An important tip we missed on the wikiHow list...BUG OFF!


My little sister made a cute lightening bug to help us be seen in the night.  To make this craft you will need a plastic bottle (body), construction paper (wings), pipe cleaners (legs), googly eyes or pony beads, glue and a glow stick.



We are waiting for the sky to clear before heading back out for a second peak at the stars. It has been very cloudy!
